Phoenix has 3 verified addresses, and all 3 are fully dedicated kitchens: no wheat flour on the premises, no question to ask when ordering. A bakery, a café-bakery, and a pastry café, across three distant areas of the metro region.
The city in numbers
The historic bakery
Gluten Free Creations Bakery, North 32nd Street, has been open since 2001 and presents itself as Arizona’s first certified gluten-free bakery. You’ll find breads, bagels, muffins, cookies, quiches, as well as vegan and dairy-free products, all made gluten-free. The official website, Find Me Gluten Free, Yelp and Tripadvisor all agree the shop has been 100% gluten-free for over twenty years. We found no certification label, however: here it’s the convergence of sources that carries weight, not a logo.
The two café-bakeries
- Jewel’s Bakery & Cafe, East Thomas Road, in the Arcadia neighborhood: a family café-bakery, 100% gluten-free, born from the owner’s daughter’s health journey. Pancakes, chicken and waffles, and plenty of homemade pastries, with no cross-contamination risk. This is the sit-down breakfast address. Watch the hours: the establishment observes a short summer closure — July 20 to 27, 2026, reopening announced for the 28th — and this is not a permanent closure.
- Knead Luv Bakery & Café, East Mayo Boulevard, in the northeast near Scottsdale: a pastry café that has been entirely dedicated since opening in 2022, using organic house-made flours and real butter, with no seed oil. Muffins, cinnamon rolls, sandwiches and pizzas made to order, custom cakes, a kids’ corner and a terrace. Find Me Gluten Free, Yelp, the official website and a Phoenix New Times article confirm the 100% gluten-free kitchen.
Our tips on site
- Say “I have celiac disease” rather than “gluten-free”: that’s the phrase that triggers real precautions.
- No question needed in a dedicated kitchen — here’s exactly what that changes compared with a gluten-free menu in a mixed kitchen.
- Two national associations set the standard in the US: the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) and Beyond Celiac. They publish information in English for celiacs.
- Three areas, three car trips: North 32nd Street, Arcadia and the northeast toward Scottsdale don’t connect. For the rest of the country, see our guide to gluten-free travel in the USA.
